Cold tea bags can be applied on blisters which give a soothing effect. Or one can even try applying tea tree oil directly on the blisters. Common salt can also be used to treat the blisters, just press the common salt on the sore by the means of your moistened index finger for almost a minute twice a day. Continue this routine for 2 to 3 days.
Drinking Sage tea with dash of powdered ginger also helps in treating cold sores. To prevent cracking and bleeding of blisters you can apply Vaseline, it will soften and moisturize the blisters. You can even apply cornstarch paste to the affected area or can use the extract of lemon balm which will speed up the healing process and reduce the symptoms.
Cotton ball saturated with white vinegar can be dabbed on the affected area to reduce the swelling and get relief from the pain. Since honey is known for it is antifungal, antibiotic and antiviral properties, it's one in all the effective home remedies for fever blisters. It can be used to assist the healing process by directly applying it on the fever blisters.
Avoid eating salty and acidic foods and foods rich in arginine such as nuts, peanuts, chocolates, oatmeal, peas, seeds, grains and wheat products. Cut down the intake of coffee. These were some of the home remedies for fever blisters which can be tried at home easily.
